Wednesday Wish: River Island’s Khaki Hooded Parka
Less than a day to go until we can all start preparing for Christmas without feeling guilty! Just wanted to share this beautiful hooded parka from River Island, which is at the top of my imaginary Christmas list this year. Strange as many seem to find it, I never write a ‘real’ Christmas list and leave it in the pathway of my parents for them to find. I much prefer a surprise under the tree on the big day!
Absolutely love the olive/khaki green (someone settle the colour debate!) and the parka’s snuggly faux fur trim. Parka, there is definitely a place for you in my wardrobe! What are you wishing for this Christmas?

Ways to Wear: The Black Vest
Kick starting the Ways to Wear series is the ultimate wardrobe staple that you’ve probably had hanging around in the back of your wardrobe - or condemned to your pyjamas drawer: the black vest. Plain, functional, simple and typically cheap as chips, it can be so easy to overlook this piece. A black vest top is something that I’m sure 99.9% of my readers already own: I like to slip them under a top that could otherwise be inappropriate, just worn with jeans for a casual look, or sometimes as part of an evening look!
So let’s start with a simple Look: perfect for everyday, this Look incorporates your black vest with some berry tones. This Look is all about the shorts, and the accessories, which add dimension to the outfit, whether with the diamante fox ring, perched on your ring finger, or the studded slipper-esque shoes, which are a great version of Yves Saint Laurent’s velvet slippers. Not only are they perfectly on-trend and subtle enough to transition into next month’s trends (which hails ankle grazer trousers as Fashion God), they’ll make great talking points. “Oh this? It’s Topshop daaah-ling!” Finish off with some dainty, baby pink make-up and an oversized bow headband to keep it feminine.
Exclusive First Look: The Autumn Knit
An oversized knit is a fashion staple, whether you intentionally bought it, or your favourite jumper suffered a laundry stretching accident, and you simply couldn’t bear to see it go.
As shown in this exclusive first Ways to Wear look, It can easily be dressed down with paperbag waist trousers and some chic wedges. Think outside the box and tuck a longer length jumper into trousers, cinch in, et voilà, an entirely new Look. Step out of your knit-and-leggings comfort zone and inject a feminine shape to your wardrobe, while keeping firmly on-trend for the autumn this year. You could even add a floppy hat or fur-trim headband for added comfort and warmth! Tuck the oversized knit in, and cinch trousers in to define your waist.
Have you worn your jumper with paperbag waist tapered trousers recently? Don’t forget to leave a comment or photo reply to share with me and your fellow WTWD-ers!

Ways to Wear: Dalmatian Print
The sweeter, younger sister of the ever-present leopard print trend, Topshop Unique commanded attention at London Fashion Week A/W11 with their Dalmatian print. Inspired by Disney’s 101 Dalmatians - such a classic film! - Topshop Unique sent their models down the runway complete with blackened noses, the softest of jumpers, cutesy 50’s-esque hair buns… Even the nails got full attention!
Personally, I’m in love with this trend: I want it to replace leopard completely, but alas, we can’t have it all. There’s something so ladylike, prim and sophisticated about Dalmatian print, and it can add such depth and a real texture to an outfit. As well as that, it is absolutely adorable and so fun, which is what fashion and style is about, right?
