Ways to Wear: For the Party Season
Good afternoon happy campers! December is well underway now, and I hear that some parts of the UK, you lucky lot, have had your first round of snow already. My guess is that your work/Uni/college Christmas parties are fast approaching, so I’ve put together some Looks, just for you to embrace the party season this year.
Less is not always more when it comes to nights out, despite what the likes of The Only Way is Essex and Made in Chelsea might tell you! (As a sidenote, has anyone caught an episode of Desperate Scousewives yet? Should I brave a viewing?!) If you’ve seen some of my previous Ways to Wear installments, you’ll know I take a fancy to seperates and layering over a simple dress; hopefully these Looks will broaden your festive outfit mind.

Look One is a fun outfit, perfect for a Christmas meal and drinks. I’m a sucker for black, but how gorgeous is this hot pink skirt? It’d look perfect with a casual vest or Tee, so you’re not too dressed up, and at just £7.99, you can’t go wrong. It also comes in a beautiful dark/dove grey colour as well. Pop a flashy ring on, some platform heels and a faux fur stole to finish the Look.

If you’re at University, I know only too well how big the pressure is to find the biggest student night out at the end of the semester. Deadlines have loomed, you’ve queued to hand close to hundred pieces of work in, and then deadlines have passed, and you’re resolved to spending the remaining few days warbling Christmas songs around the communal kitchen with a lone cracker nee microphone in hand. This dress from River Island is absolute beautiful: wear with the highest wedges you can lay your hands on (I bet you already have some in your wardrobe!) and lots of sparkle.

For the more understated stylista, Look Three is my favourite outfit and take on the party season. I’m all about the comfort, and this off-shoulder jumper from Topshop holds a lot of festive promise. Wear your oversized jumper untucked and loose over a sweet, sequin skirt, with Mary Jane heels, and finish with tousled hair and a Little Fille headband.
I hope this installment provided you with some food for thought of how to put a twist to “that” typical very-LBD and heels outfit for the party season. There are so many ways to tap into the party season, but you’ll often find you can’t go wrong with black, gold, some sparkle and wine red. Happy party-ing, let me know some of your Christmas party stories and outfit plans in the comments below!
With Love, Michelle x
